Guns don’t kill people? [updated]

Big Tobacco managed to resist for decades the ongoing assault of evidence linking its product to a whole cohort of diseases. Although it still maneuvers to keep selling its deadly packages, it can’t pretend they are anything else anymore.

This makes me wonder how long will it take for the gun lobby in the US to be seen for what they are. Political manipulation leveraged by reinterpretations of the second amendment probably will maintain the status quo for a long time, but hard evidence of the damage caused by this kind of thinking is already available.
