I love Canada, there is no other way to put it. My home away from home, the always nice and warm people, the excellent friends we made there, the feeling of belonging everytime we stepped on its soil…
So it is with great pain that I have been reading the latest news about how the Harper government is trying to emulate – and then go to 11 – the worst of Bush’s policies, especially when it came to science.
Case in point 1: wanton destruction of precious records, files and books, many of those irreplaceable. Canadian libricide: Tories torch and dump centuries of priceless, irreplaceable environmental archives.
Case in point 2: a systematic attack on science that contradicts their political goals. Portrait of a failing state: Canadian government’s worst moments of 2013.
I’m pretty sure he — and his cronies — will fall, hard. The problem is the amount of destruction they will be able to sow before they are stopped. It is too much, already.
