I don't really care much for sports (and that's an understatement), and I believe there is a lot of absurdities in professional sports, beginning with the amount of money that is thrown around.Having said that, my heart goes out to doctor Socrates' family. He was one of the few, very scarce, voices from the world of professional football in Brazil that opposed the military regime. And his non-compromising style with regard to wrongdoings were still apparent in his weekly columns in a local magazine. He was one of those rare persons that made a difference for the country and will be missed. And for those wondering why "doctor", besides having played football professionally, he also graduated in Medicine right after he quit.
