And wholeheartedly recommend. Chomet (who previously directed “Les
triplettes de Belleville”) makes a touching bittersweet tribute to
Jacques Tati, using a script the latter never made into a movie.
There are some controversies surrounding the original script, but as
Roger Ebert writes, “… the film stands on its own, and however much it conceals the
real-life events that inspired it, it lives and breathes on its own,
and as an extension of the mysterious whimsy of Tati.“
